For importers, distributors and brand owners
Buying harnesses, collars and leashes from the workshop
PetTrail Supply makes dog harnesses, cat harness sets, collars and leashes in our own workshop in Hebei, China, and packs them for export. This page sets out how an order runs, what we need from you to quote, and what arrives with each shipment, so you can check us against your own purchasing process before you send an enquiry.
One workshop, four product lines
Cutting, stitching, hardware setting and packing all happen on the same floor. Colour, strap width and hardware are set per order rather than taken from a fixed stock item.
| Dog harnesses | Polyester and nylon webbing, air mesh, padded vest styles. Strap width, buckle type and sizing run agreed per order. |
|---|---|
| Cat harness and leash sets | Lightweight webbing and mesh, H-style and vest-style, matched leash included where the design calls for it. |
| Collars | Webbing, neoprene, microfibre and leather. Width, padding, closure and logo label agreed per order. |
| Leashes and P-chains | Flat webbing, round rope and steel-core reflective chain. Length, handle style and hook type agreed per order. |
How an order runs
Six steps from the first message to the carton count at destination. Nothing is cut until the specification sheet is signed off.
You send a list
Item numbers and quantities per style and colour. A photo or a link is enough if you work from our catalogue.
Quotation with packing data
A written quotation comes back with the packing data attached: units per carton, carton dimensions and gross weight, so you can cost the shipment.
Sample or counter sample
A sample is made to the same specification as the production run. Sample cost and courier are quoted with the sample request.
Specification signed off
Colour references, strap width, hardware, size run, label artwork and packaging are written into one sheet and confirmed by both sides.
Production and in-line checks
Cutting and stitching are checked against the sheet as the run moves, not only at the end.
Packing and documents
Cartons are counted against the packing list, marked, and released with the shipping documents.
What we need from you to quote
The more of this you send in the first message, the fewer rounds it takes.
| Item numbers and quantities | Per style, and per colour and size if the split is already decided. |
|---|---|
| Target market and channel | Country, and whether you sell to retailers, on marketplaces or under your own brand. It changes the labelling and the size run we suggest. |
| Label and packaging | Artwork, where it sits on the product, language, and whether you need a header card, hang tag or printed polybag. |
| Delivery point | City or port. We quote from the workshop and you can compare that against your own forwarder. |
| Any fixed requirement | Strap width, hardware finish, buckle type, or a size chart you already use. We work to your chart if you have one. |
The specification sheet
One page per style, agreed before production. It is the document we check the run against and the document you check the shipment against.
| Field | What it holds |
|---|---|
| Item number | Our style number, plus your own code if you use one. |
| Construction | Webbing or fabric, stitching pattern, padding, hardware and finish. |
| Size run | Size labels, neck or chest range, strap width per size, and the weight range each size is cut for. |
| Colour | Colour reference per part, and which parts are allowed to vary between batches. |
| Label | Woven or printed, position, size, and the text on it. |
| Packaging | Polybag, header card, retail box, units per inner pack, units per carton. |
| Carton marking | What is printed on the outside: item number, colour, size, quantity, carton number, gross weight, dimensions. |
Packing, documents and inspection
The three things buyers ask about after the price.
Packing and cartons
- Units per carton and carton dimensions are quoted with the price, not left until shipping.
- Mixed styles can go into one shipment. Each carton is labelled with its own item number and quantity.
- Cartons are marked so the count at destination can be checked against the packing list without opening every box.
Documents
- Packing list with item number, colour, size, quantity per carton and carton count.
- Commercial invoice, and the shipping documents for the mode you choose.
- A material statement for the materials used in the order. Test reports for those materials can be requested before production starts.
Inspection
- In-line checks during cutting and stitching, and a final count against the specification sheet before packing.
- Cartons checked against the packing list before they leave the workshop.
- Third-party inspection at the workshop can be arranged on the order before shipment. Tell us the date you want and we will hold the run for it.
Questions buyers ask before the first order
Are you the manufacturer or a trading company?
We make the goods. Cutting, stitching, hardware setting and packing happen in our own workshop in Hebei, and they do not travel between sites. The person who quotes your order can tell you which line it will run on.
What is the minimum order?
100 pieces per style. Colours and sizes inside one style can be mixed to reach that number, so a four-colour order can run 25 pieces per colour. The floor is set by the express freight and the setup time each style needs, which do not cover themselves below that quantity.
Can we order samples before a bulk run?
Yes. Samples are made to the same specification as the production run, so what you approve is what gets cut. Sample cost and courier are quoted with the sample request, and both are credited against the first bulk order for the same style.
Can our logo go on the product and the packaging?
Yes. Woven labels, printed patches, header cards and printed polybags are made to your artwork. We confirm position, size and colour against a proof before the labels are ordered, and production starts after you approve that proof.
How is the specification fixed?
On one sheet per style: construction, size run, colour references, label, packaging and carton marking. Both sides confirm it before cutting. If something has to change after that, it is written into a revised sheet rather than agreed verbally.
What documents arrive with the shipment?
A packing list that ties every carton to an item number and quantity, a commercial invoice, and the shipping documents for the mode. A material statement for the order is issued on request, and test reports for those materials can be requested before production.
Can we inspect before shipment?
Yes. You or your agent can inspect at the workshop before the cartons are closed. Tell us the date when you place the order and we will plan the run around it.
Can several styles share one shipment?
Yes. Mixed styles ship together, with each carton labelled by item number and quantity. The packing list follows the same order as the carton numbers, so the count can be checked carton by carton.
How are payment terms agreed?
Per order, and written on the proforma invoice before production starts. Tell us what your finance team normally works with and we will say what we can do for the first order.
Where do you ship from?
From Hebei, China. Express, air and sea are all arranged from the workshop, and you are welcome to use your own forwarder if you have one.
Send the item numbers and quantities
A written quotation comes back with packing data attached, so you can see the landed cost before you commit to a run.
